Marble bathroom vanity tops and floors are prone to etching and scratches mostly due to hygiene products, beauty products, and cleaning products since most of these products are considered exceptionally low on the pH scale, (thus making them very acidic). They will easily etch the marble surface. Humidity also plays a big factor in any stone deterioration, especially in marble. The showering act itself will create steam that will condensate on the marble surface. This steam consists of water particles and personal hygiene products particles as well as living organisms that will eventually end up on the stone surface. This repeated condensation will cause the accumulation of harmful chemicals and living organisms on the marble, making the stone look dull, discolored, or even creating a perfect environment for mold to grow.Marble service recommendation for Bathroom Vanity top and floor:

These surfaces are also prone to etching from humidity, however, being mostly a decorative surface, they rarely get touched. The major factor that will damage this surface will be humidity. The bigger the bathroom, the longer it will take for the humidity to damage the stone. The smaller the bathroom the shorter it will take for humidity to do its damage.Marble service recommendation for bathroom walls:

Granite & Quartzite
Kitchen countertop, island top, vanity top, backsplash, floor – In average every 24 to 48 months
Granite and Quartzite are very dense stones that require little maintenance. This is true. However, these stones are prone to some staining if not properly cared for. Due to spills or dirt, sealing should always be done every couple of years to help prevent stains from appearing. Being a very dense stone, granite tends to crack more easily than other stones. This is true especially on some earthquake regions, tall buildings, or improper support and installation, where the density of the stone does not allow much room for constant shifting. Even though the density of granite makes it tougher to scratching, etching and temperature changes, the downside would be that is less forgiven when these constant shifting variations occur. Although chips and cracks may appear once In a while, there is always a solution to remedy this problem by applying a resin base color matching, 2 parts epoxy in the cracked or chipped area and have it refinished.Granite and Quartzite service recommendation in general:
- Professionally cleaned and disinfected – Every 12 to 18 months
- Re-sealed – Every 24 months
- Re-honed – Whenever etching or scratches appear.

Quartz
Kitchen countertop, Island top, bathroom vanity top, and floors – In average every 36 to 60 months
Quartz is an engineered stone, or as it is called, man-made stone. Its non-porous, heat-resistant, and extremely hard to scratch or chip. Due to its resin base composition, it should never be exposed to long periods in sunlight as the UV rays will permanently fade the stone. The only downside to Quartz is when it the time to professionally restore it since it tends to cost around 80% to 90% more to restore its surface than it would cost if this were to be a natural stone. This is due to the high price of the materials required to restore it and labor. For instance, a marble countertop that usually takes 1 day to restore, would take 2 to 3 days if it was Quartz.Quartz service recommendation in general:
- Professionally cleaned and disinfected – Every 24 months.
- Re-sealed – Does not require sealing.
- Re-honed – Whenever scratches appear.
- Re-polished – Whenever the surface becomes dull
